In 2025, can the pet industry usher in a new year of entrepreneurship?

Liu Xiaoxia, founder of the white paper on the pet industry and deputy secretary-general of the pet industry branch of the China Animal Husbandry Association, predicted that the pet industry may usher in a "new year of entrepreneurship" in 2025.

At present, some practitioners in China's pet industry may still be in a "darkness under the lamp". They believe that the market competition is fierce, the internal circulation is serious, and there is a lack of clear development direction. But from the perspective of new entrants, the pet industry is still an underdeveloped blue ocean market.

The "2025 China Pet Industry White Paper (Consumption Report)" pointed out that in 2024, the number of pets in China will be 124.11 million, an increase of 2.1% over 2023; the scale of the urban (dog and cat) consumer market will increase by 7.5% to 300.2 billion yuan.

Liu Xiaoxia said that the development of the pet industry meets people's trend of pursuing a happy life. As people face increasing pressures at work and in life, establishing close emotional connections with pets can not only effectively relieve stress and reduce loneliness, but can also become an important emotional support, enhancing happiness and satisfaction in life.
